A friend of mine sent me her cover letter this week, asking for feedback. She’s a talented, experienced, and confident person… but she wasn’t getting any bites. Once I took a look, however, I knew why. The cover letter debacle is one of the most...

How should you price your freelance writing servic How should you price your freelance writing services? 3 things to consider:⠀
⠀
💰 1. Your income goals: This is often left out of the conversation. WHY?! You're not doing this for fun. How many projects at your current rate do you need to complete each month to maintain (and eventually IMPROVE) your current lifestyle? This will quickly reveal whether you're undercharging.⠀
⠀
💰 2. Your niche: Are you writing for an industry that's currently exploding? Is your expertise rare in your field? Are you the go-to writer in your space? Charge accordingly.⠀
⠀
💰 3. Your value/ROI: What return on investment is your client getting from your work? Are you charging $50 for an email that's generating $10K for your client? Or much more? Your client's bottom line indicates a potential budget for creative partners. Are you underselling yourself?⠀
⠀
🚫 BONUS TIP #1: Asking other writers what they charge and modeling them isn't helping you. They don't share your niche, ROI/value, exact services, or ITC (ideal target client). Test out rates and figure out what works for YOUR specific writing business.⠀
⠀
🚫 BONUS TIP #2: Charging TOO LITTLE reduces your perceived value, attracts low-vibe clients, and leaves you feeling exhausted despite your hard work.⠀

I see you, overachievers! I can understand the urg I see you, overachievers! I can understand the urge to want to "catch up" on Saturday and Sunday, but if you don't take time for yourself this weekend, when Monday hits you'll feel even more behind. That's no way to start the week. Use the next 48 hours to appreciate yourself, indulge in life's leisurely activities, and take your mind off work for a while. 🌼🍷☕

How should clients pay you? First, let's talk abou How should clients pay you? First, let's talk about how they shouldn't pay you...⠀
⠀
🚫 VENMO:⠀
It's against the TOS of Venmo to use it for business transactions, so I would advise against that. You will receive no protection or compensation if a client screws you over (and Venmo scams are rampant). This is not a business transaction platform.⠀
⠀
🚫 PAYPAL:⠀
PayPal is best left for friends, family & eBay (or other purchases with buyer protection, when you're the one sending the money). It's notorious for siding with the BUYER (or your client in this case) for any disputes, even if they owe you money.⠀
⠀
✔️ WHAT TO USE?⠀
I highly recommend Wave (https://www.waveapps.com/) which is totally free. You can create sleek branded invoices, accept credit card payments, track multiple bank accounts across multiple business profiles, and see instant income reports. It also sends automatic invoice reminders so you don't have to chase down clients who owe you money. It'll help you look more professional when dealing with clients.⠀
